At the age of seventeen, Tracey West needed emergency surgery to remove a part of her bowel. During surgery and throughout her time in intensive care, Tracey required numerous amounts of blood transfusions.
Tracey fully recovered and has since become a wife and restaurant manager.
When our mobile unit visited Rhydycar Leisure Complex at Merthyr Tydfil, Tracey explained to the staff how her live was saved by the kindness of blood donors and today they could become a hero to someone.
Tracey was so proud because eight members of her team, mainly first time donors, came forward and donated blood.
Tracey explained “Blood not only benefits our bodies but we can spare and share it and the good news is – we won’t miss it and doesn’t cost a penny to share!”
