Velindre University NHS Trust’s Chief Operating Officer Cath O’Brien announced on Friday 15 April the permanent appointment of Alan Prosser as Director of the Welsh Blood Service.

Initially joining the Welsh Blood Service in June 2008 as the General Manager and Deputy Director, Alan has spent the last three years as Interim Director. During this time, Alan has led the organisation through the ongoing pandemic whilst overseeing the implementation of several key projects, including the FAIR (For the Assessment of Individualised Risk) steering group recommendations, enabling more people than ever before to be eligible to donate safely, supporting international convalescent plasma clinical trials project in the fight against COVID-19 and the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout throughout Wales.

I'm eager to continue this success over the coming years.
