We invited children from twenty six primary schools in the local area to be creative and enter a colouring competition to help promote and raise awareness of our life-saving organisation.
We received over 6,000 entries and looking at the standard of the entries it was evident how much time and effort had gone into creating each design.
After much deliberation, Dr Geoff Poole, Director at the WBS, selected a winner from each school and an overall winning poster. The twenty six finalists (budding artists!) attended a special tea-party on Tuesday 10th May, at our Headquarters in Talbot Green where the overall winner was announced.
The winning design was created by Robin Rai from Pontyclun Primary School and will be used as part of our promotional campaign to help raise awareness of the flagship blood & platelet donation clinic, based at our Headquarters at Talbot Green.
Alan Prosser, General Services Manager at the WBS added “We have been overwhelmed with the support received from the schools. We hope the poster will encourage and remind the general public to give blood and save lives. Our hospitals in Wales cannot support sick patients without the support of blood & platelet donors.”
“I’m sure the winning design will promote our flagship clinic which has first class facilities for donors, with extra comfy beds so you can even sit back and watch the television whilst donating.”
