Waiting to See a Doctor or Specialist

Awaiting surgery

If you are awaiting surgery, you may still be able to donate, but we’ll need to know a little more. Please get in touch to find out if you are eligible before you book an appointment.

Routine screening tests

As long as you have no symptoms and you’re feeling well, you can give blood after a routine screening test such as:

  • a cholesterol screening;
  • a smear test;
  • a mammogram; or,
  • an annual health check.

Endoscopy, colonoscopy

You have to wait 120 days after any test involving a flexible scope, even if your results are clear.

Please get in touch before donating if you have had a procedure involving a flexible scope.

Other tests or investigations

You are unable to donate until you have received your test results or diagnosis from your doctor or nurse.

If you think that your test results could affect your eligibility to give blood, please get in touch.
