The Welsh Blood Service held a blood donation session at Bryntirion Comprehensive School on Tuesday 9th March.
Students and members of staff, many of whom gave blood for the first time, rolled up their sleeves and donated 59 life saving donations!
Judith Jerwood, the school nurse at Bryntirion Comprehensive School is a big supporter of the Welsh Blood Service and was instrumental in reassuring students and raising awareness of the blood donating session.
Judith said: “Donating blood saves lives. We are very proud to be holding our first mobile blood donation event. The event has been supported by students and staff and demonstrates our schools commitment to the health and wellbeing of our community.. We are very privileged to witness the enthusiasm of our young people and the dedication of the staff”
Cath O’Brien, Director of the Welsh Blood Service added: “It is vital to make people of the younger generation realise how much they are needed and motivate them to start a journey of giving blood on a regular basis and to continue to donate throughout their healthy adult life!”
