Missing Type

From Monday 4th June to Sunday 17th June 2018, we will be participating in an international awareness campaign as part of a global movement to encourage more people to register as blood donors and donate blood.

We’re asking people to join us in removing the letters A, O and B (the blood types) from their social media profiles as part of the International Missing Type campaign to create engagement and awareness of the importance of giving blood.

The Welsh Blood Service relies on thousands of blood donor volunteers to ensure it continually has stocks of the correct blood type to help treat critically ill patients. The Service needs people to sign up as new donors to ensure stocks remain sufficient to help those who are in vital need.

People rarely think about their blood type – most people don’t even know their blood type. But if that ‘type’ was to go missing in everyday life, people would start to pay closer attention to the need for blood.
