When three year old Orla Galton was diagnosed with leukaemia her family were devastated and feared they may lose her.
Orla was rushed to the Children’s Hospital for Wales and within hours received a blood transfusion and started chemotherapy treatment.
Mum Sharon added “We were told then that it’s not the chemotherapy treatment that saves lives but the blood. It makes such a huge difference and you can’t recover without it.
I can”t put into words how much of a difference it makes and how much we relied on donors. Without blood and platelet donors, Orla would not have survived her fight against leukaemia. So thank you for giving, you helped to save my daughters life.”
Orla is now in long-term remission and enjoying life to the full.
